I've always hated to title my blog entries. Long titles might as well be a summarised story, where else short titles are not enough when i want to mix up my entries. So from now on i shall name my titles as the dates i wrote them.
Few events had happened that made me sit up and realize things has been taken for granted these years. Recently dad's vocal cords aren't exactly good and he has almost lost his voice for a good 1 month plus time. Doesn't help that he is a heavy smoker which makes the whole family worry about what is wrong about the throat. A visit to the "specialist" diagnosed that one of his vocal cords is not responding. That could be due to a virus attack (high chance) or something pressing on his nerves (low chance). Now i have to wonder, the so called specialist, whom we had to pay $350+, only did some simple stuffs of inserting a camera into the throat for a scan, taking some internal pictures and briefly explaining the situation. I even had to ask him about some stuffs which i believe a specialized doctor could have "automatically" told the patients. I guess my $350 fee is probably too low for him to gift me more of his advice. Anyway, dad went for a CT scan and the results will only come out late this month where we have to go back to the doctor for a more precise diagnosis.
My dad doesn't speaks much to the family. Probably due to the olden thinking times. Both him and mum come from times where the dad/mum doesn't express love like the parents do now. What they know about expressing love was perhaps the idea that dad is supposed to be bringing in money for the money and mum is supposed to be the one in charge of family matters. Lack of communication makes me distant from my dad. But i think my mindset of spending more time with the family last couple of years did some good. I'll probably accompany them out more because i know the fact they are going to leave me at some point of time. Like i said before, dun take things for granted. I won't preach further.
Last week was ade's birthday. Sorry ade, no one said it that day but i think you also will condemned the dinner place we were eating at. The only one complaining loudly is geigei, so get angry at him, ha! Speaking of which, please think twice over food reviews given by so called "celebrities". Try to avoid "Indulge Bistro" at bugis. Was introduced by singapore's queen blogger Xiaxue, however, i personally think the food there is only so-so. Nothing as fantastic as what she had written in her blog. Anyway, personal preference, no harm done. The next time i want to go to that foie gras place you and wing went. I haven't try goose liver till now, a bit sia sway. But first lets satisfy my hotpot craving. If anyone is looking for a good place for hotpot, i personally recommend Chungking Mala Hotpot at Tanglin Shopping Centre (the ulu one selling a lot of carpet one, not the hip one). Price is of middle range, ala carte buffet style and the interiors are done up perfectly like a small china hotpot restaurant. Once in a while the manager of that place will come up to you and say a cold joke. One of the few places with my Stamp of Approval.
I seldom tell people about my expensive buys, but am really happy that i have finally managed to get a vintage Omega to add to my watch collections. Close friends will know what breaks my bank. If you dun know, No.1 is fragrances from distinguished perfumeries in france and england, where unique ingredients transcend you immediately to different parts of the world. No.2 will be vintage watches. Particularly swiss vintage watches used during the WWII periods. The idea of an old watch that might be worn on a soldier in the 1940's and then lost in time ending up on my hands gives me a high when i touch the watch for the first time. It's like flash back into history. I imagine what the watch went through, i hold it up to hear the strong mechanical clicks, sounds that you just can't find in modern watches. Looking forward to the day i can own a vintage Panerai!
I shall end the post with a nice short anime mtv from Chage and Aska. Directed by Hayao Miyazaki from Studio Ghibli, you can be assured of the quality. Look out for his favorite use of hidden messages about life in the anime. :)
